>> brian: 7:00 a.m. on the east coast. thursday, march 28th. this is "fox & friends." now this. president biden is set to join barack obama and bill clinton for a star-studded fundraiser in new york city today with stephen colbert. pinch me. but the event he is not attending, the wake for fallen nypd officer jonathan diller. that's happening not too far away on long island.
4:01 am
>> rachel: shameful. plus, the biden administration still pushing this narrative on the economy. >> making much fun of bidenomics anymore. >> president biden's economic plan is working. >> rachel: but when you look at the numbers, voters aren't having it. >> joey: it is opening day at globe life field. will cain is in ranger's fan heaven. look at him. he is ready for it. >> lawrence: second hour of "fox & friends" starts right now. and, remember, mornings are better with friends. so in just a few hours, president biden will head to new york city for a fundraiser former and presidents barack oa and bill clinton. >> rachel: groups planning something big they want make their voices heard. >> brian: $100,000 for a picture. peter? >> peter: president biden has been making good money this cycle so far. but he hasn't been making obama money or clinton money and that
4:02 am
is going to change later on tonight. at radio city music hall. the campaign is already billing this as the most successful fundraiser in american political history. $25 million is going to be come in. a picture with biden and obama and clinton is going to cost 100,000 bucks. and the event is also going to feature actress mendy kay ling, lizzo and a conversation between the presidents and stephen colbert. and it's going to be a good test of the soundproofing inside radio city because a huge anti-israel free gaza protest called flood manhattan for gaza is being organized right outside. the people in charge urging protesters to get there as early as possible today and this is an issue who weighs heavily on president biden 38% trails trump by 5 points. very importantly r.f.k. jr. here is a huge factor. 12%. and in a close race, so are
4:03 am
cornel west and jill stein. >> they have 2% apiece. perhaps most troubling for the biden reelect though, the number one issue voters are listing as the president's greatest accomplishment, 38% are saying nothing. the campaign's whole push lately has been to say together we can finish the job for the american people. but there's a sense in this poll that if is he going to finish the job, is he just going to finish doing nothing. back to you. >> brian: that's the most interesting poll ever. i never saw nothing win. it's almost the seinfeld poll. nothing happens. recall. >> peter: a presidency about nothing. nothing can't beat something. i don't think. >> brian: i'm not sure. >> peter: what is something? i don't know. who is on first? >> brian: absolutely. >> lawrence: what we are all wondering. >> brian: peter, one question, is it even on the agenda that the president -- does the president fully realize that in massapequa, long island, just 3e
4:04 am
will be a wake before his fundraiser at 2:00 in the afternoon he could still get to the fundraiser? there is two sessions one in the afternoon and one at night? >> peter: it seems like they do realize because karine jean-pierre was talking about the death of officer diller yesterday. it seems like they realize that it is happening. but what's less clear is whether or not president biden was invited by the family. i have seen some reporting out there that president trump is saying that he was moved by the invitation from the family to attend today. i don't know if president biden or anybody from the white house was actually invited. >> invitation came after the president proactively called the question is will joe biden call the family? and it seems like supportive of
4:05 am
the president say he is at his best when is he consoling families, consoling the country. he does it when it's politically expedient for him. the problem why he can't console is because his party is directly responsible for the policies that led to this officer's death. and if you don't believe me ask the new yorkers here who upset about the soft on crime policies and then the act of releasing repeat offenders every single day. and i think the president would be confronted by that. and it's not just the president, it's all the other democratic leaders hot union is saying don't show up. don't show up to the funeral to try to console the families. when your policies directly caused. this i agree with them. don't show up. >> joey: juxtaposition of this word i can't say real easily i guess with my georgia education. when you look at president biden, is he not being -- he is
4:06 am
not absent an invitation because that officer's family is mad about dei. he is not absent an invitation because they are upset about the economy. he is absent an invitation because they probably -- and i will not put words in their mouth. but they feel he is much more connected to the culprit than the officer in this situation. real quick, i have spent time with laken riley's family on the phone. when president trump invited them and spent time with them, they didn't accept the invitation because they are politically upset. they didn't accept the invitation because they care about his stance on china or the economy. they accepted his invitation because that issue that ripped their life apart, immigration, crime, what's happening at the border was intrinsic to president trump's campaign the first time around and intrinsic to president biden's failures and i think you see the exact same thing here. >> brian: let's see some of those images again. this was when the body of the police officer was taken out of hospital, jonathan diller.
4:07 am
the crowd that showed up to salute him and escort the body back to massapequa, long island, the takeover of the suburban he community by the men and women in blue and the people that support them and their families, they have canceled school in my town because no one can move. everyone has just taken over my entire town for this 31-year-old who evidently not only did he lose his life, we lost an unbelievable cop. this guy had 70 collars in three years. he was staring at this car thinking why is this guy sitting there. he thinks this guy is going to take down this store right next door. he watched him for 15, 20 minutes. walked up to him. they were in the bus lane. walks over there and tells him to get out of the car he doesn't. across the way through the glass career criminal who just came out of prison two years ago and shot him underneath the bullet proof vest. now i don't know if we are ever going to see it. evidently body cam footage of him dragging himself to the back of the car.
4:08 am
his partner going up. >> lawrence: stayed in the fight. >> brian: is he screaming in pain. and then the partner came out, shot this guy in the back who evidently had a knife up his rectum. he planned on going back to prison. this guy is as evil as it gets. and this guy took him -- he had to lose his life to take him off the streets. >> lawrence: unbelievable. >> rachel: you see these images and you will see this tonight, joe biden going to a fundraiser with celebrities. and donald trump going to a funeral. i think what you see is who do they care about? you see this also when you bring up laken riley and i'm glad you brought her up, too. i think laken riley the rushing of the illegals at the border and this moment. who cares about americans? in laken riley's case. clearly the president cared more about how we call, you know, illegal versus newcomers or whatever the new word it is they have for them. this is donald trump at his
4:09 am
best. say what you want about him what people did intrinsically and in their gut understands is he cares about americans. >> brian: he cares about the men and women in blue. >> rachel: and he cares about the men and women in blue. that's why he is there. >> lawrence: goes to the overall point, don't tell me, show me. it seems like the party, the democratic party has a problem with action. it's just not this issue pro-criminal, pro-criminal justice reform not backing the men and women in blue. it comes to the economy as well. the president has been hit. >> i want to be able to talk to the president after he goes to the wake today i will catch up to him. and just thoughts, keep it to this incident. there is so much crime and lack of punishment in our countries and in our cities. >> this is the latest example. i think this resonates with him because it's queens. grew up there. he knows the men and women in blue guarding him, pay for his personal security when he was doing the apprentice and was just a promoter and a casino
4:10 am
owner. >> lawrence: why they are all supporting him, too. all the unions across the country. >> brian: remember, george bush didn't love calling every person families that lost his life they were mad at him with iraq and afghanistan. he would make call, write a letter. sometimes you get blasted by the family but you do the right thing. you do the right thing, call. i know for what i hear of this family, they would have treated president biden cordially. >> joey: of course they would. >> lawrence: because they were americans first. this comes as the question was posed to the folks are you better off financially than you were a year ago? 52 percent said they were worse off. 22 -- i don't know who they are. maybe wall street, they said 22% say they were better off. and then 26 percent said they were about the same. >> the 22%, everyone in the green scam business. everyone selling solar panels and evs and all the stuff in
4:11 am
the green agenda, yeah. only 38% of americans approve of joe biden's economy. one in five voters say that they were better off financially. five years ago. so i mean, only one in five. >> so interesting. nobody mentions bidenomics anymore. you see that chart? he spent $40 million over the summer telling everyone how great the economy was and put his polls in reverse. nobody used it. use offed it yesterday somebody said why don't you use it anymore? >> lawrence: yeah, brian in november. it started off back in july 21 times, then it went down to 15. then september it was 13. and then november, we are at 4. you go to december 4, and then it's zero, zero. >> joey: take a look back and hear it. >> making much fun of bidenomics anymore. they are thinking maybe it works to build from the middle out and the bottom up. >> it is clear that biden's
4:12 am
economic plan is working to grow the middle class, spur investments in manufacturing. >> turning to bidenomics, we start from a position of strength. the u.s. economy is in solid shape. >> bidenomics, which is the word of the day, worked of the week. word of the month, word of the year here at the white house. >> bidenomics. [applause] and bidenomics is working. >> joey: yeah, bidenomics. you know, kamala harris takes a word and says it over and over again it's probably not a good word anymore. i think people are burned out on it by the time she gets done talking. >> rachel: a case people were able to take that word and mock it for what it was. eventually joe biden had to go and his team say okay we are the butt of the joke here. we are not going to do it. another sign of the economy are pawn shops. they are sort of the is aary. >> brian: p-a-w-n. >> rachel: what did i say?
4:13 am
>> brian: sounded a little different. >> lawrence: sometimes you have to move forward. he will troll you on live television. [laughter] >> rachel: yeah, pawn shops are the canary in the coal mine, what happens there kind of gives you a feel for what is going on in the economy. you are starting to see a lot of people going, you know, turning in the rings, trying to get a loan, especially gold. other thing is gold is at record high. why is gold at record high a lack of confidence in our currency and economy. that's another sign of things that are going badly as well as the dollar store. >> lawrence: this is a blind spot for the democrats look back into october 29th, 2020, gallup did a poll. if you are better off under donald trump, 56% of americans say they were better off -- this is in the middle of a pandemic and everything. but, when you went down to the favorability, he had a 47% favorability. i would say that this election is going to come down to either
4:14 am
do americans vote based on are they better off or do they want personality? and they made the bad decision the last time and we saw what is happening as a country. i want to go back to nbc though. because everybody is talking about ronna and what happened there. this highlights the blind spot for the democratic party because they are not speaking to average day americans. they don't know what is going on. they keep saying data, data, data. but when you ask the american people, they are saying they are not better off. the economy is great. are you not seeing this? he has brought back these jobs, even though they were pandemic jobs brought back. and they don't understand why their data doesn't match the vibe of the american people because they are in the echo chamber. having people that just agrees with the president on everything or they are never trumpers. so they are not talking about raffle of the country. they don't realize what they are feeling right now. >> rachel: yeah. >> brian: headlines were dollar tree lifts price cap to $7. rent something cheaper than owning and pawn shops know
4:15 am
something about the economy that biden doesn't, times have still tough. there's a lot of inventory. and they will see if people going to go back and buy their stuff back when they have the money. >> rachel: do you remember with the renting thing you will own nothing and be happy said the world economic forum. that's the world they want us to live. in an as you say people have had enough. >> brian: you are never getting invited there. >> rachel: i'm not getting invited, thank you. they know you by your enemy. [laughter] all right, we're going to move this to a fox news alert. this is a live look at the collapsed francis scott key bridge in baltimore. where a possible hazmat spill complicating the recovery efforts. >> joey: carrying hazardous materials breached during the collision. >> brian: griff jenkins is live on a boat right in the river. hey, griff. >> griff: yeah, good morning, guys. let's look right at where those containers are. the hazardous materials out here. you can see in the distance here we are getting a much closer look at really the magnitude of the wreckage but you can see the
4:16 am
dale ship there. >> material ntsb press conference we learned last night some have leaked. there is a white boat here closer to us. >> that's the army corn of engineers and little boats with the blue lights, those are the department of natural resources and if you come over here a little bit, sam, in this open area where these other two boats are with the blue lights, that's where the recovery effort were yesterday two bodies along with the red pickup truck. brian we were out here yesterday at the time they were doing that recovery effort. they were focused in this area. take a look at this video. you can see it's just remarkable stuff. now, they won't be doing that today because they believe the wreckage underneath the water is so hazardous towards the divers move toward the salvage effort
4:17 am
to get cranes out here on barges to remove that we also, of course, have heard more about the effort. the mayday call that end with out with just 90 seconds to spare to close that bridge yesterday on this program. governor west moore talked to us about the heroes that those men were in acting fast. listen. >> they are heroes. and they saved countless lives. these are individuals, our law enforcement officers who moved so quickly to be able to warn the workers, to be able to stop traffic had these police officers and law enforcement officers not done that what was a catastrophic incident that we saw would have been even more catastrophic. >> griff: and just another look while we're back out here, you can see the concrete in the spans of the bridge collapsed there that's going to take days, if not weeks to remove to open this channel up. because, beyond that wreckage is the port of baltimore. employs some 10,000 workers directly. the ships that were in there are
4:18 am
stuck there. they can't come out. nothing can go in. this is the ninth busiest port in the country. the first by the way in the country that does light trucks and automobiles. they have to move operations of shipping up and down the east coast to other ports right now. guys? >> brian: griff, this is the only port that accepts highly hazardous materials. but that hazmat material you said it's been breached. this hazmat material has been breached. is it leaking? >> griff: well, we learned from the ntsb press conference last night from the chairwoman homendy she was saying there is some leakage out here and they have got a team trying to control it to monitor it to keep it from effecting anybody. we do know that's going to be a situation that we hope to hear more about a little bit later because, obviously, that is raising a lot of concerns when people hear that. >> rachel: thank you, griff. >> brian: maybe that explains why the thing hasn't been moved yet. >> rachel: 56 containers lithium and eye on batteries.
4:19 am
this waterway was important not just for these kind of containers but also cars and farm equipment. so they're saying it could effect farming, harvest. they are scrambling to find other waterways other routes to get those types of equipment through. >> brian: incredible. 18 minutes after the hour. carley shimkus you have the news. >> carley: i certainly do. tomorrow marks one year since "wall street journal" reporter evan gershkovich was detained in russia. the "wall street journal" newsroom plans to public reading friends and colleague for 24 hour period. and people can tune in to the reading live on social media. vrabel prime minister benjamin netanyahu is sending a delegation to the white house for discussions on the moving offensive in rafer fall. former secretary of state mike pompeo joined earlier. he says the biden administration sent the wrong signal when it abstained from the u.n. security council resolution calling for a cease-fire in gaza.
4:20 am
smokes to ho committed the barbarities. communists and chinese party happy. friends around the blorld see ally walked away from friends in time of struggle. >> carley: hamas is now praising president biden's position on the war. a fox news alert. nine members of the migrant mob caught on camera rushing the el paso border last week reportedly hit with criminal charges including inciting a riot, assaulting and damaging property. tom homan praising texas for the swift response. >> when you put a hands on on of our standard terms and conditions you need to be held accountable. you need to be in prison. thank god the state of texas is doing it. i think if it came to the biden administration, they wouldn't be prosecuting. this when it comes to use of force, they will attack the men and women wearing the uniform but not so much the illegal aliens. thank god the state of texas is stepping up in this because i don't think the biden administration would be doing it.
